Why We Built This Site
North Carolina gives the public broad access to many court records, but Carteret County records are split by record type. The Clerk of Superior Court handles trial court files for Superior Court and District Court, including civil, criminal, traffic, estates, special proceedings, and divorce judgments. The Register of Deeds handles marriage licenses, certified marriage copies, vital records, deeds, notaries, assumed names, and other recorded instruments. The Sheriff's Office handles the detention center, inmate information, civil process, warrant service, and law-enforcement records.

This is a privately run reference site. We have no connection to any North Carolina court, Carteret County office, clerk's office, sheriff's office, Register of Deeds, or state agency. There are real limits to what we can help with:

- We cannot issue certified copies of any court document or vital record
- We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific case applies to you
- We cannot guarantee that every phone number, fee, or address listed on this site is current right now
Only the issuing court or government office can provide a certified copy with an official seal. We can point you to the right office, but the document has to come from them.
